Start with a fully dry mandrel (10mm in my fav) with bead release.
I then flame dry the bead release again even with it being dry. I let it cool so that any moisture is really gone from the bead release.
Next I place a nice thick band of glass for the base bead and flame it down and I let it spread to create nice fat ends to the bead.
Then I decorate.
